quantity of obsolete and unserviceable materials have
been put out for sale after survey which should reduce
somewhat the value of stock on hand.
(G). The main store at Werichai was re-arranged soon after
the Inspector's arrival, making it much easier now
see what materials are in store. The Pipe Tard has
also been considerably re-arranged giving extra room
which will become necessary when the main store at
Wanchai has been demolished.
(H). Many cases of error in the last stocktaking have been
investigated and adjusted. It is hoped to accomplish
more in this direction from time to time.
(I). Consignments of materials from the Crown Agents are
being inspected by the Inspector whenever possible,
Executive Engineers being thus relieved of the work.
(J). Sundry lists of special materials in store have been
compiled and furnished to Executive Engineers. The
result has been that such materials have either been
used already, or have been ear-marked for certain work
and new indente on the Grom Agente have been reduced
accordingly.
(K). A daily "Receiving Book" has been commenced in store,
in which everything received into store is entered at
the time, irrespective of what is charged. Afterwards
the No. of R/N. or other covering document is entered
against each particular item by the Inspector thus
enabling him to see what materials are outstanding and
require to be debited at this office. This book takes
the place of an old one in which only materials charged
were entered. This is proving a safeguard against
over-issues.
(L). The constant presence at the store of the Inspector has
been taken advantage of, and specific duties have now
been allotted to the store-boys, with the result that
